The software outsourcing industry is growing rapidly. That is
why we believe that participation in trade shows, fairs and
conferences is urgent for players who want to hold a strong
position on this market. Recently SoftServe participated in the
international summit - ROSS - 2004, one of the
largest outsourcing industry events devoted to offshore software
development. The Summit took place within the framework of the
"Tenth Annual Week of High Technologies, Innovation and Investment"
and became its major international event.
230 companies from 26 countries participated in the summit,
including 12 Ukrainian companies. Within the agenda of the Summit,
there were over 20 sectional sessions and "roundtables". Thirty
companies presented stands at the exhibition, and there were five
separate press conferences and sessions of the press club. During
four days, participants shared their experience and established
business relationships.
The program of ROSS 2004 was focused on such topics as
globalization of IT Outsourcing, match-making with potential
suppliers, net tendency of market consolidation and creation of
large software development companies, and new investment
opportunities in the software development projects. The traditional
meetings, featuring leading international analysts, were a
particular success at this year’s Summit. They were dedicated
to the position of CIS programming development sector on the global
market, as well as a meeting with the Vice President of the NASSCOM
Association, Mr. Vandrevala.
Separate meetings focused on the most pressing issues
confronting the software development industry:
- upsurge in the sphere of the software development quality
assurance;
- issues concerning the high education ad training of
personnel;
- management of distributed projects in software
development;
- measuring and lowering the project risks.
On the final day of the conference, June 12, representatives of
programming development associations from Russia, Ukraine and
Belarus met at a roundtable and took a decision on the formation of
a Union of Programming Development Associations for the CIS. This
will undoubtedly benefit the growth of the industry in these
countries and assist in the promotion of their joint interests on
the world market.
