SoftServe Took Part in a Round-table Discussion "Problems and Prospects of Development of Software Engineering and Software Project Management in Ukraine"

The main subject of discussion was problems and prospects of developing Ukrainian Software market. The results were as follows:

Today the most important problem for Ukrainian companies is to create a productive environment for development of software engineering. We have to support an interest to IT-activity, to share knowledge, information, and experience in software engineering activity using Internet forums, electronic newsletters and periodicals, to organize conferences, exhibitions and seminars, to promote Ukrainian and Russian books and materials of software engineering.

Organization of these activities could be possible in the framework of Guild of software engineering professionals.

At present it’s very important to enlist government support in such directions as adopting of up-to-date practice-oriented standards of software engineering, registration of corresponding educational and scientific specialties in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, contributing to educational programs in increasing the software engineering level of IT specialists.

There is a need to arrange contacts with foreign organizations, which specialize in software engineering development, to get assistance in realization educational and practical projects of software engineering in Ukraine to international grants, participating in forming of contemporary international certification system in software engineering, similar certification systems of project management from PMI and IPMA, providing practical assistance to Ukrainian software companies in the organization of their certification to be in compliance with ISO and CMM principles.
